Cawfield Quarry 1½ miles away
Easily incorporated into a walk along Hadrian's Wall, or worthy of a visit by itself, Cawfield Quarry sits on the route of the wall, with its iconic cliff and pool.
The sill provides a great attraction to while away some hours if the weather is not so good. Go up on the grassed roof and admire the views, or head inside for the regular exhibitions and learning zones, and finish off with a bite to eat in the cafe.
Come to the Roman Army Museum and immerse yourself in the life of a Roman soldier. The museum includes three galleries, 3D film and holographic classroom. Based at the site of Magna Roman Fort the museum is situated next to one of the most complete sections of Hadrian’s Wall.
Set ontop of the whin sill crags, enjoy incredible views in all directions, whilst taking in the features of the Roman Fort. A visitor centre, gift shop and cafe help round off a visit to this popular attraction.
